Brand: CDN
Product Description Perfect for roasting or grilling. Choose the type of meat or poultry and the doneness desired. The unit has been pre-programmed with 6 meat/poultry choices and various doneness temperatures. The pre-programmed temperatures are based on USDA safe cooking temperatures. The TASTE mode will not allow the user to undercook when it is not safe to do so. Both the taste chosen and the temperature will be displayed during cooking. Simply insert the probe into the food. Place the food in the oven or barbecue and close the oven door (or grill cover) directly over the probe cable. Alert Mode: This feature allows the user to set a desired cooking temperature. This is perfect when the user prefers a different temperature than has been pre-programmed. For candy or deep frying, attach the stainless steel clip to the saucepan edge and insert the probe into the mixture. Set the desired internal food temperature using the ALERT mode, then wait for the alarm to indicate when the cooking is done. It’s that easy. Complete instructions with candy and oil temperature guides are included. The control module can sit on a counter top or the magnet can attach to a convenient surface. DO NOT attach to a hot barbecue. The plastic case will melt. In MEAT mode, the cooking temperature is continuously displayed along with the set temperature, type of meat and taste preference. When using the TIMER mode, the time counting up or down is shown at the top of the module. It counts down or up by minutes. The timer alarms for 60 seconds when the set time is reached. Note: Remove sticker from display before use. Amazon.com If you’ve ever opened the oven door to check on a roast only to watch the heat escape while an “instant read” thermometer measures temperature, you’ll appreciate this impressively-accurate, remote cable thermometer. Simply insert its high-heat stainless steel probe into meat, shut the oven door, and monitor internal food temperature on a large, easy-to-read digital display. You can even program an alarm to sound when food has reached a desired temperature. Predetermined settings are also available. This capability is especially useful for smoking, barbecuing, or any “low and slow” technique–eliminating the need to check on food and allow precious smoke to escape. Unlike other remote probe thermometers, heat resistance makes this versatile tool ideal for candy making or deep fat frying. A special clip secures the probe to your saucepan. Plus, since the Proaccurate withstands temperatures up to 482 degrees Fahrenheit, you won’t melt through several probes in the course of a year’s cooking. A magnetic back and folding stand let you store the thermometer on a counter or stove. A handy 24-hour count-up, count-down timer also functions solo to aid any cooking task. This commercial-quality thermometer is calibrated to the National Sanitation Foundation standards–the highest standards achievable. It runs on a single AAA battery, included with purchase. –Mary Park

Buyer Guide meat thermometer
When buying a meat thermometer, there are a few things you should consider first.- Price. Price is the first thing you should consider. The more expensive the thermometer, the better it will be.
- Temperature Range. The temperature range of the thermometer will determine the kinds of meats you can cook.
- Accuracy. Accuracy is very important as well. The thermometer’s accuracy will determine how well it will cook the meat.
- Look. The thermometer’s look is also important.
How to choose meat thermometer
When choosing a meat thermometer, it’s important to choose one that provides an accurate temperature reading. Many meat thermometers use internal probes to indicate the temperature of the meat.- Make sure the probe is long enough. Most meat thermometers come with probes that can measure the internal temperature of meat. However, if the probe is too short, it will pierce the meat and will not be able to accurately measure the temperature.
- Make sure the probe is flexible. Probes that arent flexible can pierce the meat, which can lead to inaccurate measurements.
- Make sure the probe doesnt have metal in it. Metal in the probe can cause inaccuracies due to the metals conductivity.
- Make sure the probe is easy to clean. Most meat thermometers will have probes that are dishwasher safe. However, if you have a small probe, it can be challenging to clean.
- Make sure the probe is long enough to reach the thickest part of the meat. Most meat thermometers come with probes that can reach up to 1.5 inches thick. However, if the probe is too short, it will pierce the meat and never reach the thickest part.
- Make sure the probe doesnt touch the bone. If the probe touches the bone, it can influence the reading.
- Make sure the probe doesnt touch a metal surface.
- Make sure the probe doesnt touch any source of heat.
- Make sure the probe doesnt touch the outside of the oven.
- Make sure the probe isnt based on a Fahrenheit measurement. Most meat thermometers use a Celsius measurement.
- Make sure the probe is 1?4 inch to 3?4 inch long. However, if the probe is too long, it will pierce the meat and not be able to accurately measure the inside temperature.
How to maintain meat thermometer
If you eat a lot of meat, a good meat thermometer is an essential kitchen tool. You can use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of any meat youre cooking.- Use a digital meat thermometer if youre only cooking for one or two people. Digital thermometers have small screens that show the temperature reading, and a digital readout makes it easy to set and retrieve a precise internal temperature. If youre cooking meat for a larger group, a digital meat thermometer may not be the best option.
- Use a meat thermometer with a probe. A probe-style meat thermometer allows you to insert the tip of the thermometer directly into the meat. These thermometers are a bit more delicate than digital meat thermometers, so its important to handle the probe with care.
- Wash your meat thermometer. Before storing your meat thermometer, be sure to wash it with hot, soapy water to remove any leftover food particles.
- Store your meat thermometer in a cool, dry place. If you store it in the refrigerator, be sure to avoid placing the probe tip directly in the vegetable drawer, as the temperature in there can be much hotter than the rest of the refrigerator.
- Keep your meat thermometer clean. Before you store or use your meat thermometer, be sure to remove any pieces of food and wipe it down with a moist towel to remove any buildup.
